Ford (F) |
Ford Motor Company (F) was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford. His initial investment of $28,000 helped to create the fifth largest automotive company in the world. In 1908, Ford introduced the Model T, which became one of the world’s favorite car, and later pioneered use of the moving automobile assembly line. During World War II, Ford manufactured Jeeps and B-24 bombers for the US Army and Air Force.
When Ford went public in 1956, it sold 10.2 million shares at $64.50 a share. More recently, Ford has acquired other automobile brands, such as Aston Martin and Jaguar. Today, the Ford Fusion is the first sedan which comes in three models: one powered by gasoline, one a traditional hybrid, and the last a plug-in hybrid.
